Delta Dawdle: Fleet 4’s Labor Day 2008 Brannan Island to Antioch Cruise.

Participants: “FELICE”, “CHARMED LIFE”, and “MAGIC”

 

 

Saturday 11:43. Rigging up “FELICE” at the Brannan Island launch ramp.  The weather is perfect:: clear sky, warm sun, and the wind SW at 10~12.

 

 

 

Saturday 13:42. "MAGIC" beating SW in the San Joaquin River with Mt. Diablo dead ahead.

 

 

Saturday 13:43. “Lookin’  Good!” – This lovely CT-41 passed us in the San Joaquin River a couple of miles east of the Antioch Bridge.. This ketch is a William Garden design, built in Taiwan sometime in the 1970’s.

 

 

Saturday 13:47. “CHARMED LIFE” beating southwest towards the Antioch Bridge with the exhaust stacks of the Contra Costa Generating Station in the background.

Sunday 14:47. Departure from Antioch, “CHARMED LIFE” approaching the southern entrance to Broad Slough on our way back to Brannan Island.

 

 

Sunday 14:45. just a whisper of light breeze in Broad Slough.

 

 

Sunday 16:55. “MAGIC” approaching Three Mile Slough from the Sacramento River. The breeze had dissapated in mid-afternoon, so we had motored most of the way from Broad Slough so as to make it back to Brannan Island before ebb tide.
